StaffingPre-school is very lucky to have an experienced, well-qualified and enthusiastic team of paid staff. Pre-school has a ratio of one member of staff to eight 3-4 year olds and one member of staff to four 2-3 year olds. The majority of staff have a recognised care qualification and have undertaken a first aid course. The supervisor's role is to ensure the smooth running of the group and is the first point of contact for families. The Key Worker SystemPre-school adopts a Key Worker System whereby each member of staff is given particular responsibility for just a few children. The supervisor assigns a special key worker to each child so each child in the group has one special adult to relate to, which can make settling into the group very much easier. Other Adult ResourcesPre-school benefits from having regular volunteers, students and parent helpers and is proud of the high ratio of adults to children in our group sessions. This ensures individual attention to the needs and development of each child, only ever having a maximum of 18-20 children per session - a ratio of 1 adult to 5-7 children. The Role of Parents / CarersWe recognise parents/ carers as the first and most important educators of their young children. Our pre-school aims to support parents/ carers. Parents/ carers are welcomed to:
If you would like to add your name to the parent helper rota, please feel free to do so, it is on the notice board in pre-school. Parent helpers are always welcome as we always have lots of rewarding jobs and activities for you to do. Special needsThe number of adults present in the pre-school enables us to provide individual attention for each child. Each child is able to progress at his / her own rate in all areas of development, and this is true for children with and without disabilities or learning difficulties. We are experienced in working in close liaison with professionals across the range of special needs. If you would like to discuss the group's ability to meet your own child's special needs, please talk to the pre-school leader or your child's key worker. Our full special needs policy is available for you to read at any time in pre-school. |
